Esterahet Aman (Saftey Break)
Brief about the project:
Brief Description of the Project: As part of the Civic Hackathon project, which is implemented by the Community Development and Continuing Education Institute in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Family Health International (fhi360) within the framework of the Civil Participation and Community Engagement Project (CPCE) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Civic Hackathon project aims to contribute to strengthening the role of social accountability committees and youth councils in decision-making processes by implementing community initiatives to address obstacles to social inclusion and gender equality in the less fortunate communities in the southern West Bank. Responsive community initiatives have been implemented to address community needs identified and agreed upon by active stakeholders in the local community, and this initiative was one of them.
Initiative in summary:
- Location: Hebron City
- Date of Implementation: 15/05/2023 – 15/07/2023
- Executors: Hebron Youth Council
- Problem and Intervention: Due to traffic jams, population density, and the narrowness of streets and roads in the city of Hebron, an initiative was launched to shed light on this problem that negatively impacts all segments of society, including males, females, employees, elderly, and people with disabilities. This initiative has contributed to solving the problem by providing a rest area with seats and secure spaces for all groups. This rest area offers a safe and comfortable waiting place for passengers, sheltered from weather conditions.
Main activities/outputs:
- Purchase and installation of rest area seats and waiting benches.
- Workshop with various institutions to raise awareness about the water crisis in Hebron, discussing the challenges, proposed solutions, and the importance of preserving public property.
- Design and implementation of an awareness campaign, including videos and informative messages about the importance of preserving public property and the private sector’s role in community development.
