{"id":6529,"date":"2020-12-21T08:50:17","date_gmt":"2020-12-21T08:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/cdce\/?page_id=6529"},"modified":"2021-05-29T12:01:38","modified_gmt":"2021-05-29T12:01:38","slug":"developing-the-capacity-of-municipalities-and-local-communities-in-social-accountability","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cdce-i.org\/?page_id=6529&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Developing the Capacity of Municipalities and Local Communities in Social Accountability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\r\n<p><strong><u>Project\u2019s overview<\/u><u>:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>As part of the third component of the entrepreneurial \u201cMunicipal Development\u201d Program for reparation and development, designed by Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF) On behalf and under the guidance of the Palestinian authority, Community Development and Continuing Education Institute (CDCE-I) implements the project \u2018Developing the Capacity of Municipalities and Local Communities in Social Accountability\u2019. The project is based on the principle that the foundation of developed municipalities\u2019 services is \u00a0well-managed and accountable local communities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The project, implemented between 29 January 2019 and 28 January 2020, targets eight municipalities in southern West Bank. And aims to institutionalized citizens\u2019 participation and improve social accountability in the municipal\u2019s works, through the use of official Manuals and procedures and the adoption of best practices, in order to:\u00b7<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Strengthening the feedback of the municipal services and work from the citizens and beneficiaries\u00b7<\/li>\r\n<li>\u00a0Enhancing the Effectiveness of complaint mechanisms<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><u>Project\u2019s duration:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Thirteen months starting from 29 January 2019 until 28 January 2020<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><u>Project\u2019s Donor:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF)<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Projects\u2019 partners:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Hebron Municipality<\/li>\r\n<li>Al Karmel\u00a0Municipality<\/li>\r\n<li>Battir Municipality<\/li>\r\n<li>Beit Sahour municipality<\/li>\r\n<li>Beit Awwa Municipality<\/li>\r\n<li>Beit Fajjar Municipality<\/li>\r\n<li>Janata Municipality<\/li>\r\n<li>Zatara Municipality<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n<p><strong><u>Projects\u2019 outputs:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>1. Support the efforts of eight municipalities in Bethlehem and Hebron Governorate, to be more accountable institutions that work together with the citizens to satisfy the needs of the local community.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>2.Assess the environment that enables social accountability and diagnose the current social accountability situation in the targeted municipalities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>3. Identify the civil society institutions that work in the area and strengthen the relationship between them and the municipalities, aiming to activate its role and engagement in the project events and activities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>4. Organize Guidance workshops and trainings about social accountability for Mayors, municipal councils\u2019 members, municipal employees, and local communities\u2019 institutions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>5. Form\/ activate eight social accountability committees in the targeted municipalities. Also, prepare its structure and reference clauses, in accordance with an agreed upon criteria. In addition, prepare a six months working plan for each committee.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>6.
